The Federal Government has reaffirmed that its ongoing economic reforms are strategically designed to empower young Nigerians and position them for meaningful participation in national development.Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, made this known in Benin City during an empowerment programme organised by the City Boy Movement. He explained that the government’s focus on youth engagement stems from its belief that a well-skilled youthful population remains one of Nigeria’s greatest assets.According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unwavering in his commitment to converting national hope into tangible opportunities for young people. He highlighted the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) as a key platform delivering soft skills, digital literacy, and technology-driven training to young citizens.Olawande noted that through NiYA and other initiatives, more than 250,000 youths have already benefitted from various capacity-building programmes. He added that plans are underway to expand NiYA centres across all 36 states, ensuring wider access. He further emphasized the government’s “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative, which aims to equip every Nigerian youth with at least two income-generating skills, ultimately enhancing their productivity and improving their quality of life.
