The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has reaffirmed its partnership with the Anambra State Government to support digital transformation, innovation and economic opportunities for young people in the state.
The commitment was made on Monday, August 17, 2026, when UNDP Nigeria Resident Representative, Elsie Attafuah, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Governor Charles Soludo at the Government House in Awka. (Voice of Nigeria)
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the permanent site of the Solution Innovation District (SID), a flagship initiative of the Anambra State Government focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and digital skills development.
The Chief Executive Officer of SID, Chinwe Okoli, highlighted the state’s vision of developing a globally competitive innovation ecosystem through investments in digital infrastructure, talent development and strategic partnerships.
According to the state, one of its major digital initiatives is the Anambra Digital Tribe, an ambitious programme targeting one million members and designed to equip young people with digital skills while expanding opportunities within the technology sector. (Voice of Nigeria)
The UNDP-Anambra partnership has already supported youth-focused initiatives, including the Young Africa Innovates (YAI) programme, the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) and the development of an innovation makerspace at the Solution Innovation District.
These programmes are intended to create pathways for young people to acquire digital skills, develop innovative solutions, pursue entrepreneurship and participate more actively in the digital economy.
Attafuah commended the Anambra Government for its investments in innovation, human capital development and enterprise growth, while both parties discussed opportunities for deeper collaboration in digital skills, innovation and youth economic empowerment. (Voice of Nigeria)
The renewed partnership underscores the growing importance of collaboration between government and development organisations in building Nigeria’s digital economy.
