At the centre of this transition is Galaxy Backbone (GBB), which has unveiled its Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS) for 2025–2028, a roadmap designed to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and expand digital inclusion across the country.Rather than a vision statement alone, the IDTS sets out a clear and actionable framework for building a digital ecosystem that is secure, resilient, and focused on the needs of citizens. The strategy reflects GBB’s preparedness for a fast-evolving technology landscape and introduces renewed mission and vision statements aligned with national development priorities.GBB’s updated vision positions the organisation as Nigeria’s foremost enabler of innovative digital transformation and inclusive economic growth, placing government institutions, businesses, and citizens at the heart of every digital initiative.Five Strategic Pillars Shaping the PlanThe IDTS is anchored on five core pillars that will guide GBB’s activities over the next four years:1. Strengthening Digital InfrastructureGBB plans to scale and modernise the National ICT Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB), with a focus on energy-efficient and solar-powered connectivity. This approach aims to deliver reliable and sustainable digital access across the country, including remote and underserved areas.2. Building Integrated Digital EcosystemsThrough platforms such as the Government Data Exchange (GDX), GBB is promoting interoperability across government systems. This will enable secure data sharing, improve coordination among public institutions, and support evidence-based decision-making.3. Enhancing Service Delivery Through InnovationCitizen experience is a key priority under the new strategy. GBB intends to deploy unified digital portals, strengthen digital identity systems, and adopt emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to make government services faster, simpler, and more accessible.4. Promoting Digital Trust and LeadershipWith cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, GBB is scaling its national cybersecurity capabilities. This includes expanding its Security Operations Centre (SOC) and investing in skills development to protect Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and build public trust.5. Ensuring Financial Sustainability and Value CreationTo sustain long-term impact, GBB is exploring new revenue models, expanding partnerships, and diversifying its service offerings. Innovative funding approaches will support continuous investment while delivering value to government, businesses, and citizens.Collaboration at the Core of TransformationA key message of the IDTS is that meaningful digital transformation cannot be achieved in isolation. GBB is deepening collaboration with global technology partners, federal and state government institutions, and other stakeholders. These partnerships are expected to drive broadband expansion, particularly in underserved communities, ensuring that the benefits of digital transformation are widely shared.The IDTS 2025–2028 marks a decisive step in redefining how technology supports national development.
