Africa is taking a major step toward building its own data-driven future. Sazience Technology has partnered with WorldQuant University (WQU) to launch the Sazience Academy, a groundbreaking program designed to cultivate the next wave of African data scientists and AI innovators.
The academy, located in Douala, Cameroon, offers a 16-week intensive training in applied data science — blending rigorous coursework with real-world industry projects. Participants receive mentorship, hardware, and stipends, ensuring that financial constraints don’t block access to this transformative opportunity.
“We’re not just creating coders; we’re building problem-solvers who will drive Africa’s digital economy,” said Mireille Ngassa, CEO of Sazience Technology.
Bridging the Skills Gap
Africa’s technology sector has seen explosive growth in fintech, healthtech, and agritech — yet the shortage of data professionals continues to limit innovation. By combining WQU’s global academic resources with Sazience’s local tech expertise, the academy aims to close the skills gap and empower African talent to compete in global markets.
Students will gain hands-on experience in machine learning, data visualization, and predictive analytics, equipping them with the practical knowledge to solve complex challenges facing African industries.
Driving Inclusive Innovation
The Sazience Academy also emphasizes inclusivity and gender equity, offering scholarships and mentorship programs to support women and underrepresented groups in tech.
“Data science is the language of tomorrow. Africa must not just learn it — we must speak it fluently,” Ngassa added.
