The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a new Innovation and Digital Services Unit as part of its ongoing drive to become a fully paperless organisation and accelerate the digital transformation of its operations.
The newly established unit is expected to modernise the Commission’s internal processes, improve the efficiency of business registration services, and strengthen the delivery of digital solutions to businesses and the public.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, said the initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve service delivery and align with global best practices in corporate regulation. He noted that innovation and digitalisation remain central to the Commission’s vision of creating a faster, more transparent, and user-friendly regulatory environment.
According to the Commission, the Innovation and Digital Services Unit will spearhead the development of technology-driven solutions, automate key operational processes, and coordinate digital transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing customer experience and institutional efficiency.
The launch forms part of CAC’s broader strategy to eliminate paper-based processes, reduce turnaround times, and improve access to corporate registration and post-incorporation services. The Commission believes that adopting digital technologies will simplify compliance for businesses while strengthening transparency and accountability across its operations.
The initiative is also expected to support the Federal Government’s digital economy agenda by promoting ease of doing business, encouraging entrepreneurship, and fostering a more efficient business environment for investors and startups.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, describing it as another milestone in Nigeria’s public sector digital transformation. They say a more technology-driven Corporate Affairs Commission will enhance confidence in the country’s business registration system and contribute to improved competitiveness within the digital economy.
With the establishment of the Innovation and Digital Services Unit, the CAC joins a growing number of public institutions embracing digital innovation to deliver faster, smarter, and more accessible services to Nigerians.
